ABOUT / THE PROJECT

A food atlas.
And a way of looking closer.

Regional food stories are worth understanding as foods, as local practices, and as products that move through real supply chains.

What this project covers

China Regional Foods is an editorial atlas exploring regional foods in China. A dossier can bring together place, product identity, preparation, published standards and documented market information.

Our first dossier looks at Chaoshan beef balls. Other entries are shown as in preparation, not as completed research.

For readers and buyers

People may arrive here because they are curious about a food, planning to try it, or trying to understand a potential purchase. The writing makes room for both curiosity and practical verification. A regional name is not a specification for a particular packaged SKU.

What a field dossier means here

“Field Dossier” is our editorial format. It does not mean that every claim was verified in person. Published sources, illustrative images, provided sample photographs and future first-hand reporting have different evidence value. Each should be labelled accordingly.

Not a supplier certification service. A company named in a public report is not automatically a partner, endorsed supplier or verified exporter. Unless explicitly documented, no factory visit, laboratory test or commercial relationship is implied.

Research and commercial collaboration

The editorial atlas and Research Desk remain distinct from proposed paid brand features, advertising and buyer sourcing enquiries. These business activities are in preparation; commercial sponsorship does not purchase an independent editorial conclusion. Explore buyer research or Chinese producer partnerships.

Two research formats

The Field Dossier documents a regional food, its making and the available evidence. The Research Desk also tracks a distinct product-to-market study in progress. Work marked as in progress is not presented as completed research or a service currently for sale.

What comes next

As original reporting and licensed photographs become available, the dossier can be updated. Claims that rely on older data will remain dated; corrections and substantive updates should be recorded openly.
